Sofia Coppola, Thomas Mars married in Italy




Sofia Coppola, Thomas Mars married in Italy : Sofia Coppola and her longtime beau rocker, Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars, were married Saturday in a civil ceremony in Italy.The director returned to her roots for this event by saying "yes" to h family villa in southern Italian village of Bernalda, hometown of Coppola's grandparents.


About 80 people attended the evening ceremony at the Palazzo Margherita, a gorgeous historic buildings owned by the bride's father, director Francis Ford Coppola, who was walking his daughter down the aisle.
Bride, 40, wore a lavender gown designed especially for her Azzedine Alaïa attended the ceremony, which was officiated by the Mayor Leonardo Bernalda Chiruzzi.

"Everything went well," he tells The Associated Press. "It was a simple, quiet, in the garden."

Guests of the couple - the director George Lucas - enjoyed a wedding feast of cheese, figs, salads, pasta, fish and pork, washed down with wine from the family farmCoppola and Mars, 34, who first revealed the participant in May have two daughters: Romy, 4 ½, and Cosima, 15 months.

Coppola, who won an Oscar for his 2003 screenplay for Lost in Translation - who also directed - including a Grammy Award song of the soundtrack for the Phoenix Mars band after hearing their first album, United.
His first marriage to director Spike Jonze, lasted from 1999 to 2003 and ended in divorce.
